From running service centres to building online shops.

Sandip Mistry is a Senior Software Engineer in Pune building Salesforce B2C Commerce storefronts, after more than ten years running service centres.

Sandip Mistry

Hi, I'm Sandip. I'm a Senior Software Engineer at an IT services company in Pune. I build and look after online stores for large retail brands on Salesforce B2C Commerce Cloud (SFCC). Most of my work is integrations (payment gateways, DocuSign and partner APIs), plus finding out why something broke in production and fixing it while the store keeps running.

How I got here

I was born and brought up in Vadodara, Gujarat, and did my schooling there. After school I went to Tumkur in Karnataka for a diploma in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, then came back home to work.

I didn't start in software. For more than ten years I worked in after-sales service in Vadodara. I ran a Sony authorised service centre with a team of 20, then managed service for Daikin and LG. That's where I learned to handle unhappy customers, sort out escalations and run a team.

But software was what I always wanted to do. I was far more passionate about it than about the service industry, and after a point there was no more room to grow there. I had started learning on the side, and during Covid I went all in on web development. In November 2020 I got my first developer job at an IT services company. It was fully work-from-home, so I stayed in Vadodara. When the company moved to hybrid office work, my family and I moved to Pune, in September 2022.

Over the years I've grown from Associate Software Engineer to Senior Software Engineer. Along the way I became a Salesforce Certified B2C Commerce Developer, and in 2026 an Anthropic Claude Certified Developer.

The service years still help. I stay calm when production is on fire, I can explain a problem to people who aren't technical, and I enjoy helping newer developers find their feet.

What I write about

A mix: what I learn at work (SFCC, integrations, AI tools like Claude), my views on what's in the news, roads and places I travel, and whatever else is on my mind.
